Gold Members enjoyed “STORM CLOUDS: Outdoor Dance Performance with 3D Projection” by Hong Kong Dance

At the beginning of 2025, Centaline Club presented an outdoor 3D projection dance performance by the Hong Kong Dance Company to Gold members. More than 100 VIP guests and Gold members were invited to enjoy the four performances at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. The ‘Storm Clouds’ Outdoor Dance Performance recreated the classic Hong Kong comic book martial arts with dance. Audiences were able to experience fierce battle between Bo Ging-wan (Cloud) and Lip Fung (Wind) from a close distance. The show was a combination of dance, drama and martial arts, which successfully evoked the memory of numerous fans of ‘Storm Riders’.

On the opening night of the show, the Chief Executive's wife, Mrs. Janet Lee, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ms. Rosanna Law, the Chairman of the Board of the Hong Kong Dance Company, Mr. Tsang Kee-kung, the creator of the graphic novel ‘Storm Riders’, Mr. Ma Wing-shing, were among the guests of honor, and as one of the sponsors, Mr. Addy Wong, Founding Chairman of Centaline Club, was invited to attend the Opening Ceremony. During his speech, Mr. Tsang Kee-kung, mentioned that the upcoming dance drama ‘Storm Clouds’ in February has been so well received that additional performances have been scheduled and tickets are limited, so those who have the chance to attend the event will surely be filled to capacity!

“Storm Clouds: Outdoor Dance Performance with 3D Projection” blended 3D light projection, live electronic music by media artist and electronic musician Choi Sai-ho, and dancers interacting with technology on an 8-metre-wide giant “Sword Pool” and catwalk stage. Set against the mesmerising vistas of Victoria Harbour under the night sky, this performance weaved together a visual feast, in a passionate collision of Hong Kong classic comics, dance, and technology. Although the dance performance lasted only about 35 minutes, close to 20 dancers were present to recreate the key plot of the film before the audience's eyes, and there was absolutely no cold spot. When the three main characters, Bo Ging-wan, Lip Fung and Kong Ci, appeared on stage, the classic film soundtrack was played, instantly attracting enthusiastic response from the audience. The three dancers interpreted the love/hate atmosphere with their dance moves on the dance floor, which was a sight to behold; another climax was the two dancers, who played the roles of Bo Ging-wan and Lip Fung, delivering a series of ‘battle’ dance skills. The two protagonists, armed with the highly representative swords and knives in the film, combined martial arts and dance to create a series of battles, coupled with the lighting and 3D effects on the stage, pushing the tension to the highest level!

This outdoor 3D dance performance is just a warm-up show. The Hong Kong Dance Company will be staging a Hong Kong comic martial arts dance drama ‘Storm Clouds’ at the Xiqu Centre, WestK in February, and by then, members of the Centaline Club will have the opportunity to get tickets to see a more complete retelling of the classic story of ‘Storm Riders’. Please keep an eye on the latest news of Centaline Club!
